Macquarie University Hospital

21 days to go. Time is moving too fast! I can’t believe there’s only three weeks until my surgery. I wish life would slow down for a bit and give me a chance to prepare, but I don’t suppose I’ll ever feel prepared for something like this.

The one thing that I’ve found that really helps me when I’m feeling scared is looking at the website for the hospital I’ll be staying at. I am truly so lucky to be going to such an amazing place with such great doctors. The highlight of this hospital, for me, is the cockpit system:

All rooms for overnight patients have a system know as a ‘cockpit’ . This simple-to-use computer has a number of features including:

  • Patient entertainment, including television and movies on demand
  • Internet access
  • Telephone (free local calls and skype)
  • Call button for your nurse
  • Meal ordering
  • Medical records – your health care team can see and update your medical record on the cockpit.

Ordered meals, internet and movies on demand!? Woohoo, sounds like a holiday! Now if only I’d be well enough to enjoy it hehe.

You can take the virtual tours of the hospital here: http://muh.org.au/video.html .

I’m so grateful to be in such good hands.
